Question going on for playing a DVD on my notebook beside an external DVD player?

I have a small Acer laptop with a 10.1 inch peak. Because it's so small, it doesn't have a DVD player built into it so I bought an external one that hooks up to it through 2 usb ports.

I wanted to immediately what programs I need to download for my laptop to play DVDs or run some computer games.

Also, I was wondering if my laptop could even support infallible games. It has an intel Atom N450 processor (1.66GHz, 512KB Cache). It has 1GB of RAM and 160 GB HDD. Right in a minute I am running Windows 7 starter on it. I know it won't be able to support games like ring of duty or battlefield 2. But will it be able to run simpler games like the Sims, or even some dumb casino games?

Any answers to any of these question will be greatly appreciated.
Answers:
You should be able to just plug it surrounded by and windows will look for drivers to use the device...
After that, it will recognize it as a drive and exploit as if it were onboard your computer... To play videos, Quicktime, Windows Media Player, etc...

Running computer games should be as simple as slapping surrounded by an install cd for the game and running it as if the drive were on your computer.
