A couple question going on for laptops?

hey, I am looking for a new laptop for school. I want something lighter, more powerful, and adjectives around less aweful (i have a toshiba satellite, and its really be a terrible laptop).

I am a third year computer science and mathematics student - so I will stipulation soemthing that can handle that kind of stuff.

So my question are this. Would it work at all to get a netbook? ... I am not sure how much processor power and knock against I would need to run some of the programs I will be creating. (I am not sure tho if I will be able to receive used to programming on such a small screen...but they are reasonably priced...but yeah, lately a concideration).

My second question - does HP/compaq make solid laptops? would you suggest i DONT achieve one of these?

I know I am a CSC major, but I still dont know anything about what is a honourable computer :)

A lot of my Computer Science buddies hated the computer architecture class because they didn't know about hardware and/or didn't attention to detail about hardware, so I understand why you don't know much nearly computers ;)

A netbook is probably not the best computer for you to use as a primary machine. They have set performance and compiling things on it wouldn't be fun. Plus the small screen is less-than-ideal for reading and writing code. For the stuff you want to use a computer for, it will be slow, slow, slow, slow.

HP computers aren't unpromising. Compaq is HP's "budget" brand and as such I wouldn't recommend a Compaq, but HP computers are pretty decent. Just keep within mind that some specific models of HP might still suck, but the HP brand as a whole is pretty good.

Sony laptops are also pretty fitting. I think if you want something portable, you should go to a store resembling Best Buy and look at the laptops in the 14"- 15" categories. That's a apposite size for price/performance/portability. Depending on how much you want to spend you should find something you like.
HP/compaq Make brick laptops that are heavy you could fling them of a building and they wouldn't break but since your at college and are doing computer maths and science i recomend a macbook in that really good for school and college and natural to use light and simple and powerful plus it has amazing memory too GO ASUS!

Do NOT get a netbook. They're horrible. My boyfriend has one and every time I use it I have to resist the urge to throw it across the room. They're merely too small, so it makes typing difficult and you can't see as much at once on it. They're also a lot slower than traditional laptops for alike reason. They're ok as a secondary computer because the size make them convenient, but I wouldn't recommend one for anything important, like college. I can barely check my email on a netbook, so I'm assuming that running a variety of programs would be impossible on one.

I only just got a Sony Vaio laptop which I am absolutely within love with. It does everything I want it to do, it's light, it's attractive. It's ultimate for me. I'm not sure about HP/Compaq laptops, because I've never had one. My sister have a Compaq for almost 3 years but then it started having adjectives kinds of issues, but she really abused it, so that may have have something to do with it.
