Is asking for a macbook pro for christmas too much?

I really like apple and their products and I wanted to step it up next to a macbook pro. I mean something better than my hp laptop i have immediately would be awesome. The only type of computer I'm looking for is a mac laptop. If a macbook pro is too expensive then what type of mac laptop should I ask for?

So, the question presently comes down to this: Can your folks afford it? After all, you didn't mention any reason _why_ you dream up the Macbook Pro would be better to have. "Liking" it isn't a very angelic reason, if you ask me. If the HP you have is behind the times, broken, or incapable of doing the things you NEED to do (school work, professional applications, etc.) that's one thing. If it's just that you LIKE the Macbook Pro (so do I, I bought one merely last month), then it's really up to your parents if asking for one is too much.
Well, when you say ill-defined things like "step it up with a macbook pro" and "something better than [your] hp laptop", it really sounds similar to you don't know what you're talking about. WHY do you want a Mac? WHY do you construe they are better? FYI, they're not any better than a Windows-based PC... just different... and overpriced, but that's beside the point.

Even the cheapest Mac laptop is $1000... I'm almost secure your current HP laptop wasn't $1000, as if it was $1000, you wouldn't be complaining about it.

Anyway, these are central questions you need to ask yourself. If you merely want a Mac because it's trendy and cool and you've heard they're better, then you probably enjoy no business asking for a Mac. If you want a Mac because you genuinely like the OS and want to run some Mac-only software, next it's definitely worth considering getting a Mac.

How NICE your parents are :)
how much money they have,
how recently they basically bought your other laptop,
how old you are,
how good you are at convincing them,
whether you'll tolerate them use it ;)
whether they think you'd appreciate it, (eg, do you mistreat your current laptop)

That really depends on your parents and what they dream up. My parents have never believed in getting me or my sister incredibly expensive presents for Christmas or Birthdays. If I want anything expense I enjoy to contribute most of the money towards it. I mean it's not like they can't afford it. They are newly trying to teach me that if I want something I need to work for it. I very soon have a macbook pro from working and it is amazing! I love it! I would definitely recommend them!
