Acme Made Smart Laptop Sleeve, NetBook (Wet Black Antik) Reviews

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but didn't fit. Good for my Kindle, though. June 17, 2010
Oops. Didn't fit my bigger netbook. My fault for not checking the specs, I guess.

However, it's a nicely padded product, very sturdy, very reasonable price. I've been using it to carry my Kindle and MP3 player. I wouldn't call it "elegant" as some others own because it's got a plastic-looking finish, but it's nice for carrying fragile stuff around town.

3.0 out of 5 stars May be too small for your 10.1" netbook and the easily scratched design may not be pretty for long. June 4, 2010
For those making a purchasing decision about this bag based on the listed dimensions, be advised: Listed dimensions are inaccurate and do not copy internal volume. This bag is supposed to "fit most netbooks" but does not fit my 10.1" Samsung N120 (actual netbook measures right around 10.5") even though the advertised 11.8" should have been large enough. (OK, I could likely squeeze my computer into this bag at the risk of causing scratch or button damage.) If you have a 10.1 inch screen you need to measure the case of your computer before you buy this bag. The interior compartment measures about 10" long making it a great fit for the smaller netbook species. In reality, the height of the bag is closer to 8.5" rather than the 11" listed on the detail page. My daughter's Acer (just a smidgen over 10") fits it in very well, with a little room to spare at the top. This is a moment ago a sleeve and is not designed to carry charging cords or peripherals.

The sides and bottom are fairly well padded for light duty but not built for rugged handling. If you smash the bag, you will likely damage your computer. The hardware is metal and the buckles are mounted on swivels making the adjustable shoulder strap very functional and correctly comfortable. The design on the front is exactly as pictured with the centered antique scroll work. This is not a fabric but a "wet" looking high gloss overlay that is one-sided. This glossy design overlay scratches easily and shows smudges and fingerprints but is assured to wipe off. The back of the bag has no design. The bag should be fairly weather resistant but will not protect your gear if submerged.

I've handled a lot of different computer bags contained by the past year and this one does a decent job and should hold up well under normal conditions. All-in-all I like the bag and I think it's an OK accord so long as it is priced modestly. I like the simple slim lines and unapologetic "girlie" design. There are lots of other options in the higher price ranges that may provide better protection and look better over time.

Notes:

At the time of this review, the product offering page lists the dimensions as: 11 x 1.8 x 11.8 inches. Actual external measurements are closer to 11 x 1.5 x 8.25 inches though if you squish the bag completely flat you may get close to the advertised numbers.

Made in China and import via a California distributor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits my Acer perfectly June 5, 2010
This is great to pup my Acer Netbook in. It fits perfectly. Zips shut. It's very feminine and light. Protects smaller netbooks from minor spills and offers a bit of padding. It looks well made and materials feel resembling they will be very durable.

My only complaint is that a power adapter will NOT fit in with the netbook, but that's not a biggie for me. I mainly wanted something to put mine in for around the house when not in use. I can easily clutch and go with this for short trips to the bookstore as well, but for trips that might last longer than your battery, you might want to grab a laptop case or put your adapter in your purse.

Comes with an not compulsory basic strap that adjusts so that it can be carried or worn like a purse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Purse? Lunch? Multi use. So cute, I Love this case not for netbook but for my portable DVD player. June 20, 2010
I love this it is so cute it can be used for almost anything. Multi use case can be used as Purse, Lunch tote, Bible cover, small hand held game system like ds, but I am using it for my new protable dvd player Philips PET729/37 - 7 Inch LCD Portable TV / DVD Player. It fits spotless and leaves just enough room on one end for the adaptors. Buy this case and use it for almost everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Black and White Bliss..... June 2, 2010
I'm very impressed with this netbook sleeve. It's made very well. The zipper pulls run smooth and strong, the hooks for the strap and connections are also strong and sturdy. It fits my netbook perfectly and it feel very supportive and secure. The padding is thick and protective.

The inside is purple which is a lovely surprise.. I just adore it. My other sleeve did not have a strap attached and it isn't half as nice as this one. The black and white design is fresh on the front and the back is total black. It's an attractive design and quite pleasing to the eye. Well done folks, I newly love it !!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice design, works for a variety of devices June 15, 2010
I was more than impressed with the style factor of this netbook sleeve. I have received comments from others who fell in love with the design. The color is classy as well. It's hard to get black dirty and it wipe clean. The zipper is very good and it includes a shoulder strap too. The inside is very soft and will protect your netbook (or Kindle or Ipad). I currently use this with my iPad and it's a perfect fit. I also like the fact that the shoulder strap is detachable. I often lift it off and just tuck this sleeve into my car door panel storage area.

My primary complaint is that this has NO POCKETS anywhere on it or in it. I would have liked to have see an elongated pocket inside for mail, papers, pens, etc, and a small pocket inside for an ID tag. Other than that, I love this netbook carrying case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute, durable little bag - great for iPad July 13, 2010
First of all as a disclaimer, I didn't actually use this bag for a NetBook.

What I used it for was to transport my iPad all around Japan for 6 weeks. The iPad, with the Apple cover on it, fit perfectly in this bag. If I didn't mind it bulging, I could also fit a notebook or my iPod and earphones. I took this with me every time I traveled around and it was banged around rather a bit without any harm to the contents (accidental banging and nothing too hard). I was very glad this case is water resistant as I was traveling during the raining season and it rained several times a week. No water ever made it into the interior of the bag.

I had several people compliment me on the design of the bag and although another reviewer mention that it scratched easily, I haven't noticed any scratching. I close to the thick strap, which makes it comfortable to wear and it is easy to adjust.

So why did I only give it 4 stars? It wasn't out of any real compliant with the bag, it was because it didn't hold any pockets. I am sure it is designed this way to make it as small as possible, and since it is really only designed to hold a computer and nothing else, it makes sense not to have extra pockets. But it still would have been nice and handy to have something to put my plugs or pencils surrounded by.

All in all, I think it is a great bag for a low price. I would certainly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous print on the outside. June 3, 2010
This is a very stylish and attractive sleeve with just the right amount of space inside for an iPad and some extras (I'm assuming a NetBook would fit inside nicely as well). Aside from the print, which is on a really nice shiny 'Mod' type stuff, the rest of the sleeve is your usual ballistic nylon with sipper and plastic hooks for the strap. For the price, you can't beat this sleeve for design and looks and quality build.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute, Durable, Comfy November 24, 2010
First off, like another reviewer did, I use this bag to carry my iPad. The iPad has the Apple case on it and it still fits right inside this rucksack. The case does occasionally hamper the zipper of the bag, but it just takes a tiny amount of wiggling to get past the rough spots on the corners. Other times the zipper closes without any problem.

I've have this bag for about 6 months now and I haven't had a single complaint. (Well, it would be nice to have at least one little pocket on the inside.) But after 6 months of use the bag still looks almost new. It doesn't have any scratch or tears or loose threads. I've worn it in the rain and the iPad never got wet. The bag is padded, so despite my banging it around while I traveled, the iPad never suffered any harm. I like the sticky strap which makes it comfortable to wear.

At least two people (not counting family and friends) have complimented me on the design of this bag. Computer bags are rarely ugly, but they almost never enjoy style. It was a nice feeling to carry around my cute little iPad in a stylish little bag. The price is nice too. I think that both colors are cute, but I got the black one so I didn't have to worry roughly dirt showing up on it. Also, it is cheaper. But if you like the white better, it is probably worth the extra dollar to upgrade the color.

For 15 bucks you get a padded, water resistant case with a fashionable exterior. Even if you don't have an iPad or a Netbook to put in it, I would still recommend this bag for general use. Without pockets it can't be used for lots of little things, but if have just a few larger items you want protected when you carry them (portable DVD players, handheld game systems, MP3 players, etc) then this is the bag for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! May 26, 2010
This item feels like a cross between a pod and a sleeve. It's thicker than a neoprene sleeve, for example, but it's still small and slender. It doesn't have pockets or dividers like a bag, but it has a removable, adjustable strap. I got it in hopes it would be a good fit for my iPad and it is! The length and height are a near spotless fit. The small amount of extra depth is just right for storing the strap and ac adapter behind the iPad with a little room for a few other flat or slender items. Of course, this bag was not intended for the iPad, so be aware that it's not a completely snug fit; there is a little room to move, but only roughly speaking a finger's width. It does, however, fit my 10 inch netbook like a glove!!

The construction seems to be of very high quality. The seams are tight, padding is good, the bin liner is soft, the fittings are metal not plastic and the buckles rotate a full 360, so no tangled strap! The design is very pretty, but note it is only on one side; the back of the bag is all black.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this bag and would recommend it!
