5.0 out of 5 stars Bueno, bonito y barato November 4, 2010
This is a great battery, specially for those that don't need more than five hours of power. It is cheap and good, but it is making my laptop a little bit bigger.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but not Perfect June 23, 2010
I bought this battery after the battery that came with my Dell Vostro 1400 died. I was somewhat skeptical nearly buying a battery at 1/3 the cost of the Dell product, but I was pleasantly surprised when it actually worked.

The battery itself is pretty great, it holds a charge, doesn't shut down randomly and pretty much does exactly what you would expect. However, it doesn't have quite as much life as I hoped. The battery will jump for about 3 1/2 hours on the powersaver setting using it just for Word documents and internet browsing, less if I use the high performance setting. Given that this is an extended 9-cell battery I expected between 4 1/2 to 5 hours of battery life.

Overall, I'm very merry with this purchase. I just wish the battery lasted a little bit longer.

1.0 out of 5 stars This replacement battery did not meet my expectations. December 16, 2010
I bought this battery within September and did not begin using it until December. This battery is defective and does not hold a charge. I've charged it two times and each time that I use my lap top, within the hour the battery starts to lose its charge.

My only regret is that I waited so many months previously I began using this replacement battery, since I am now unable to get a refund or a replacement.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good deal December 29, 2010
I was a bit skeptical more or less this battery at first, but once I read the reviews I went for it and ordered one. I have been using the battery for almost a month now and let me tell you it does hold its charge. I tried using the laptop without conneting it to the AC power (something I hadn't be able to do for quite a long time) and it worked just fine, even after working for some hours browsing the web, checking my emails and doing some word processing. So, if you're thinking of buying this battery, go ahead, you'll find it is a good deal (especially when you compare prices with DELL's batteries). Personally, I don't care for the little bump that sticks out of my alien battery now, but I'll get used to it eventually.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't charge December 2, 2010
If I could give it zero stars I would. Dell's won't allow not dell chargers to charge on their laptops, I've tried everything I possibly could but it just won't work.

4.0 out of 5 stars bigger than expected December 11, 2010
works great but never stated that extended capacity means bigger than the original freestyle that comes with it. It sticks out a little when installed, but made to stick out, not that it doesn't fit, it does, but fitting means their is an extra lip protruding. My daughter doesn't mind because she is happy she can use her laptop without having to bring a cord everywhere, and can use it in her classes now, but I guess they should have stated that, not assumed we know that. Otherwise, delivered as expected, arrived as expected and works as expected in the description. Would buy again if needed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well December 15, 2009
I was skeptical buying this battery for my Dell Inspiron 1420, being it so cheap. Any computer store around where I live the batteries were over $150 for standard size and even more expensive [...]. This is a great buy.

The only downside is that it is a heavy battery and was not fully charged when I first put it in.

Otherwise, it works well and gives me 4 hours to float around on battery.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Great November 30, 2010
Does what it is supposed to. It was much cheaper than buyuing from Dell directly and as far as I can put in the picture, it is working just as well as the original battery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply works. May 16, 2010
I was skeptical about buying a battery for a Dell laptop that was half the price of Dell's representative product, but after a few months of heavy use, the battery appears to be holding up as well as the original that came with the computer when I first purchased it from Dell. It works great with my Inspiron 1420N (running Ubuntu).

5.0 out of 5 stars Mine works great - we'll get some bad unit, unfortunately June 12, 2010
Like, others I was also skeptical about buying this battery for my Dell Inspiron 1420 from a largely unknown online retailer, Power Direct, but purchasing batteries, power supplies, etc. from Dell is also no guarantee that you won't have problems with the unit - just read customer reviews on the Dell website. These things are manufactured within China, Taiwan, etc., so it can be a crap-shoot. I select online retailers with better reviews, even if I have to pay a bit more (e.g., if they say it's an "OEM" unit, are they credible/reliable?). By ordering through an Amazon marketplace provider at least I had some purchase protection or recourse - and at a far lower price than going through Dell. I rewarded $[...] shipping in Dec. 2009 for my battery from Power Direct, I received it on time, and 6 months latter it's still working and holding a charge well.

Dell power supply units (like HP's, Gateway's, or any) are also notorious for problems after a year or so of use (sometimes less), so if you purchased a replacement make sure it's at least OEM specifications so it will properly charge a replacement battery.

Face it folks, we're going to verbs to get some bad units given poor manufacturing and/or bogus quality control tolerated by even major vendors like Dell/Gateway/HP etc., so the best we can do in the short-run is to share feedback and information surrounded by an honest and non-exaggerating manner. I'd also encourage us to elect U.S. Senate and House members who will pass REAL consumer protection legislation (but their campaign contributions come largely from corporate givers and other large special interests, not ordinary working folks and household-level consumers). Total public financing of U.S. campaigns (with limits) would cost us far less than adjectives the bogus batteries etc., financial institution scams, etc. that we all pay for.
